Janet Colburn is an internationally acclaimed pianist, recording artist and Master Teacher of Piano. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Performing Arts, summa cum laude, from the University of Southern California, and holds Master and Bachelor of Music degrees. Among her awards are the Van Cliburn Piano Award and the prestigious Presser Foundation Grant. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honorary, Alpha Lambda Delta National Scholastic Honorary, the College Music Society and the Music Teachers National Association. She has been listed in Who's Who in American Music and is a major contributor to the Colburn Schools of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. She has recorded as piano soloist in Mozart Concerti with Sir Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, London (Audiofon Records). Experience amazing progress in piano with dynamic internationally known Concert Pianist! Dr. Colburn has performed with/coached/presented many prominent artists and celebrities including Sir James Galway, Sir Neville Marriner, Dustin Hoffman, Dudley Moore, Lalo Schifrin, Daniel Pollack, Macy Gray and many others. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from USC with a major in Piano Performance and minors in Music Theory, Music History and Philosophy/Aesthetics. Her teachers include the legendary concert pianist Ozan Marsh, a pupil of Rachmaninoff and Horowitz who founded the Pianists Foundation of America. She has taught at USC, UCLA, the California State Universities and Honolulu's Kamehameha Schools. She is a skilled accompanist and pianist for film and TV and appeared in the NBC film, "Nutcrackers". She is Founder and Executive Director of Mozart & Company and Magic of Mozart in Los Angeles, and serves on the Board of the International Foundation for Education and Performing Arts.
Unique instruction/coaching/piano accompanying are offered at all levels and in all styles for all ages with the highest degree of professionalism and personal attention. Lessons are enjoyable, result-oriented, and tailored to the student's specific goals and musical interests. Pianists at all levels will advance rapidly and be freed from any existing technical problems and/or musical "mental blocks".
