I have worked as a professional accompanist at the University of Wa, Cornish School for the Arts, Highline Community College, and South Seattle Community College. An experienced performer, I have appeared in recital, in chamber music, and contemporary music concerts. I have appeared as a soloist in Everett, Tukwila, Seattle, Renton, Kent, OperaWorks, (FL), Bay View, (MI), and in Bremerton, WA. I have also been a frequent performer for the local chapter of WSMTA, at their business meetings. I am a member of the Washington State Music Teachers Association. In addition, I have produced two solo compact discs, one classical and the other sacred for piano.
I am a patient, committed teacher, interested in each student, individually, and have taught students ranging in age from 4 to 86, teaching both the very bright student, as well as the student with learning problems. I encourage my students to participate in student concerts twice a year, and also to do adjudications once a year (in the spring). Adjudications consist of the student performing one or two selections for a guest, visiting pianist, with all fees going towards MTNA. I am interested in developing a love for music in each student, whatever their skill level, and enjoy beginning students, as well as advanced students.
Music is an important tool to help students learn throughout their lives. Scientific studies have shown that children who learn music, also do well in other subjects.
