Jay Shenk has performed with the Lima Symphony and Detroit Civic Orchestra. He is also a substitute clarinetist for Springfield and Perrysburg Symphonies. As a recitalist he has performed a diverse repertoire ranging from Mozart and Brahms to Piazzolla and Donald Martino. His primary teachers include Kevin Schempf, Fan Lei, David Bell, and Elaine Reamsnyder. Shenk has served as a teaching assistant for the clarinet studio at Bowling Green State University. His teaching experience also includes teaching clarinet privately for the Lawrence Academy of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin as well as tutoring music theory and maintaining a private studio. Jay Shenk received a M.M. degree in clarinet performance from BGSU and his B.M. from Lawrence University, where he graduated magna cum laude. Jay is a member of the national music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda, Bowling Green Ohio Music Teachers Association, and the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association.
