Hi! I'm Joan. I'm a piano and guitar teacher located in Commack (near Macy's). I teach out of my home and I also travel to surrounding towns. I have been teaching piano and guitar for 25 years. I'm in my 40's.

My students are as musically diverse as this melting pot we live in. I cater the lessons to each individual, though I start children with a particular course of study to expose them to many styles. For adults, I like to gear the direction of the lessons toward the student's particular musical tastes, whether Classical, oldies, Beatles, Pop or a blend of everything...

My philosophy is to teach for the pure pleasure of playing, with and without the music in front of the student. I will teach you or your child how to read music and also explain how to make chords so you can play with two hands without the music in front of you.
I'm happy to take on new students throughout the year. I'm off the last 2 weeks of August.

I have performed solo at clubs and as a children's entertainer and am the part time music director at a summer camp in East Northport.
