Lyric Soprano Elizabeth Mattox is a native of Richmond, Virginia. She began studying piano at the age of ten, cello at twelve, and has sung for as long as she can remember. Stage credits include performances with Virginia Commonwealth University, Colorado State University, Opera Fort Collins, Union Colony Dinner Theater, and internationally with Operafestival di Roma in Rome, Italy. From 2004-2005 Ms. Mattox was the soprano section leader at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Midlothian, Virginia. She has been teaching voice and piano for the past four years and is very thankful to be able to share the gift of music with others through performing and teaching.

For piano students, Ms. Mattox requires that they be at least seven years of age or have a very good grasp on reading because the recognition of symbols and how they function together translates well to learning to read music. Motor skills are also better developed by this age, allowing the brain and fingers to communicate with greater ease.

For voice students, she prefers age fourteen and older so as not to harm young voices since the larynx is an extremely fragile instrument. Younger voice students may be considered upon evaluation.
