I suggest 1/2 hour lessons for most kids between 5 and 9 years old.
I have studied under a Berklee College Of Music graduate for 6 years focusing my studies on Jazz and theory. I have completed the jazz program at Cabrillo College and I am currently on my way to a degree in jazz performance and composition, which means I can offer a well-rounded musical education. I want to teach you music!

While specializing in Jazz, and Blues, I have a deep knowledge of Rock, Funk and many other styles of music.

I’ve been playing professionally with bands for nearly 15 years sharing the stage with people like Tommy Castro, Roy Rodgers, John Lee Hooker Jr., Leon Russell, and many others. I have a lot of experience with songwriting, arranging and recording.

You'll find that my rates are very reasonable for the material you'll receive, and I’m good with kids.

Please contact me for available lesson times. I always work to make it as convenient as it can be for my students.
I can teach you to play guitar. All levels/ages welcome.

I have students that range in ages from 5 to 65, some who never touched a guitar before their first lesson and players in preparation for music school.

We will assess your ultimate goals and develop a series of small steps to achieve them.
I WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A CUSTOMIZED LESSON PLAN INCLUDING:
- "Jam tracks" of progressions, songs, etc... to practice along with.
- Printouts of customized work sheets for theory, scales, inversions, arpegios, etc...
- Theory lessons focused around the guitar as apposed to most theory lessons which are piano keyboard centered (if desired).

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF HOW A LESSON PLAN MIGHT GO:

-If your goal is to become a songwriter we can spend time focusing on the concepts of functional progression, the theory behind chord subs, common chord progressions and why they work, etc...

-If you want to play a rocking solo over a blues or jazz progression we can work on the tools needed to build the tensions, resolve those tensions, the concepts of harmony, scale patterns, and explore the 1-4-5, 2-5-1, 1-6-2-5 progressions, scales, etc...

-Or maybe you just want to be able to play some fun tunes to impress your friends or kids (or cat or dog)... WE CAN DO THAT TOO!!
