I am a member of the South Carolina Music Teachers' Association and the Music Teacher's National Association.

I have a music minor from Clemson University's performing arts program, and am currently working on my B.S. in music with a minor in pedagogy from Valley City State University and North Greenville University.

While in Clemson University's performing arts program I performed in a woodwind quintet, percussion ensemble, steel drum band, symphony orchestra, as 1st chair clarinet in the symphonic band, and marching band, so I have a well-rounded music education and extensive performance experience. I also performed as a clarinet soloist accompanied by the Clemson University Symphony Orchestra as the winner of the 2004 Young Artists' Concerto Competition.
I have performed with the Carolina Pops Orchestra since 2005 on both piano and clarinet. I sang with the Greenville Chorale and the Greenville Chorale Chamber Ensemble for two years. I recently joined the Greenville Light Opera Works and will be performing with them starting in November 2010.

Music is truly my life and passion and my mission is to teach all who want to learn, young and old. My goal is to show my students all of the different benefits and joys music brings and to give them the skills to get out there and be what they want to be.

I have a very flexible teaching style, and I do not take the same approach with each student. I like to get to know my students and their learning style so that they can get the most out of their music education. I teach the important basics and fundamentals, but as my students learn I like to incorporate the music that interests them into the lessons. I value my students' input as much as my own. I am not a strict or harsh teacher and I only practice positive reinforcement. I want my students to have a good time, not to fear or be intimidated by me. I believe feeling comfortable opens up a student's potential. Learning music should be fun.

In my studio, students learn music theory, a very important fundamental. I also teach music history, composition (when requested), do camps and group classes, and recitals. I strongly encourage but do not force any students to preform in the recitals.
