Machan has worked for over 25 years as a working, professional singer with the likes of Sting, Pink Floyd, George Benson, Pat Benetar, and many others. As well as a stint as lead singer for the Smooth Jazz group Hiroshima.
Along with being a published songwriter and worldwide recognized recording artist on her own, having released 2 records: "Machan" in 2004 and "Motion of Love" in 2007, she has performed on countless commercials for TV and radio as well as movie soundtracks like "Star TrekV". She was also the singing voice of Lt. OHara in that movie.
After tiring of touring for many years, Machan began to teach part time in 1998 in her NYC loft as a way to get off the road, expand on her musical experience and a way to "give back" to some young up and coming singers. What she found was a tremendously rewarding experience that brought joy and unexpected fulfillment to her life.
" I think I get more from my students than they get from me sometimes", Machan says. "Being a teacher, I feel as though I'm continually learning through the process of teaching. With each student there's a different way I need to explain something or another question to answer that keeps me on my toes. Teaching is learning and visa, versa."
For a student that is interested in working with someone that has the professional and personal experience and a great deal of knowledge about vocal technique to bring to the table, Machan is a great choice as a teacher.
