I have created a teaching method that is slightly unorthodox due to my own experience as a music student. I feel that too much emphasis is placed on the work and not enough is placed on having fun with the piano, which is the reason that most of us started playing it in the first place.
I help the student establish some basic tools that can be used to write and play their own songs, as well as learn songs they like. Using this approach, the student will subsequently spend more time at the instrument and enjoy doing so.
As a result, the desires of the student to play the songs that they like, provoke them to increase their skill level, and thereby the foundational work ethic is created.This method is VERY effective.
