While my applied studies have been in Composition, I have studied with noted performers and teachers such as John Owings, Zeyda Ruga Suzuki, and Luke Gillespie. I have also been active as a pianist in virtually every place I have lived, playing in restaurants and local jazz bands.
For beginners, lessons start with a concentrated focus on fundamentals such as expression, reading, technique, and rudimentary theory. Once these basic skills are acquired, the student's lessons can be structured more according to individual taste. More advanced students are assessed and lessons can begin with preferred music almost immediately.
I offer two studio recitals a year that include all my students from beginner to advanced. This allows everyone the opportunity to perform and keeps the study of music from becoming abstract. I also provide NYSSMA preparation.
